City of Coralville

A brand should live everywhere. Here’s how we showed off that philosophy for the City of Coralville.

Uncover & Understand

The City of Coralville needed new banners around one of their focal areas, Iowa River Landing (IRL). Time, sun, and weather had faded the old banners, leaving them threadbare. Sure, we could have just used a logo on new material and called it a day, but new banners provided the perfect opportunity to expand branding and set the scene.

Before

Ideate & Implement

Our designer and copywriter put their heads together to figure out how sign banners could help expand the brand. Great banners draw attention and invite people to take part. Having worked with both the City of Coralville and Iowa River Landing for years helped our brainstorming process. We’d literally created several facets of both brands, so we were deeply knowledgeable about what and how we could showcase certain aspects. Initial concepts and copy led to sketches and design elements. Our team developed several directions based off the attractions and landmarks in and around IRL.

Refine & Refresh

We narrowed those directions down to four banner designs. Each banner features a short line of inviting copy and a notable landmark—designed with an artful style reminiscent of vintage National Park posters. These banners welcome visitors and beautify the area. That’s more than advertising; it’s art.

The Refreshingly Meaningful Part

Neighborhood banners go from out-of-home advertising to in-your-heart artwork. We have a feeling they’ll draw eyes for years to come.
